William F. Savino is a Senior Partner and the Chair of the Business Litigation and Insolvency Department at Damon Morey LLP. His responsibilities include matters involving business litigation (including construction, corporate and partnership dissolution, accounting malpractice, and Uniform Commercial Code matters) and insolvency (both debtor and creditor) with an emphasis on reorganizations.
Mr. Savino is admitted to practice in New York (including all four districts of its federal courts) and Ohio as well as the Second and Eleventh Circuit Courts.
An instructor at the State University of New York at Buffalo, Mr. Savino teaches Business Law for the School of Management and Commercial Litigation for the School of Law. A frequent lecturer, he has recently made presentations for the NYS Bar Association, Bar Association of Erie County, Erie Institute of Law, NYS Society of Certified Public Accountants, the American Bankruptcy Institute as well as for numerous continuing education organizations. Mr. Savino was chosen to present a demonstration eliciting direct testimony from an expert for the NYS Bar Association in November of 2010.
In addition to speaking engagements, Mr. Savino has written extensively on the subjects with which he is involved. From 2004 through 2008, he co-authored the Commercial Law Section of the Syracuse Law Review, an annual survey of the legal developments in New York State Law, and a quarterly commercial litigation related column for the Buffalo Law Journal. In 2001, he co-authored an article on the Principle of "Uniform Construction" for West's UCC Bulletin.
Mr. Savino served three years as the chairperson of the Bar Association of Erie
County's Commercial Law and Bankruptcy Committee. In 2011, Mr. Savino earned
the designation as a Top 10 Upstate New York Attorney as named by Super
Lawyers magazine. He was also named for a fourth time to the Top 50 Upstate New
York Attorneys. He was also selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers
in America 2012® (Copyright 2011 by Woodward/White, Inc., of Aiken, S.C.). in the
fields of Commercial Litigation, Litigation–Construction, Litigation—Bankruptcy, and Bankruptcy and Creditor Debtor Rights/Insolvency and Reorganization
Law. He
was first selected for this distinction in 2007. Additionally, he has been listed as one
of Business First of Buffalo's Who's Who in Law” List for the past six years.
Bill is active in various charitable and civic organizations. He is a past director of the Western New York Jazz Society. He is also the past nationwide president of the University at Buffalo Law Alumni Association and a member of the Steering Committee for the University of Rochester's WNY Alumni Association. In September 2011, he was elected to the Board of Directors of the Park Country Club.
