PATRICK B. CURRAN
 

Mr. Curran is a Senior Partner at Damon Morey LLP, practicing in the firm’s Litigation Department. As an experienced trial and appellate attorney, he has defended matters involving medical malpractice, trucking and motor vehicle accidents, product liability, municipal liability, construction accidents, nursing home claims, class actions, and general negligence litigation.

Practicing in New York since 1982, Mr. Curran is also admitted in Federal District Court for the Western, Eastern, Northern and Southern Districts of New York. During the last 26 years, he has handled cases in 23 counties, served as lead counsel in over 100 cases which went to trial, and had 62 cases resulting in a jury verdict. Over 90 percent of his past verdicts have been in favor of his clients.

A well respected trial advocate, he also participates in alternative dispute resolution and has served as an arbitrator on numerous occasions. He has received Martindale-Hubbell’s preeminent AV Peer Review Rating, has recently been selected by his peers for inclusion in the Best Lawyers in America® 2012 (Copyright 2011 by Woodword/White, Inc. of Aiken, S.C.) in the field of Personal Injury Litigation-Defendants, and was named among Upstate New York's Super Lawyers.

A frequent lecturer, Mr. Curran is a regular presenter for the University at Buffalo’s Law School, School of Medicine and School of Nursing as well as for numerous health professional and community groups. In addition, he has conducted numerous continuing education programs discussing courtroom technology. Earlier this year, Mr. Curran’s article "Discovery and Admissibility of Peer Review Materials and Department of Health Investigations in Medical Malpractice Litigation" was published in the Winter 2008 issue of the New York State Bar Association's Health Law Journal.

Mr. Curran is a National Board Member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), representing the Buffalo Chapter; additionally, he is the past president and a founding member of the Chapter. He is active in the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel (FDCC), Defense Research Institute (DRI), American Bar Association, New York State Bar Association, New York State Trial Lawyer’s Association, Defense Trial Lawyers of Western New York, Western New York Trial Lawyers Association , New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers, and the Bar Association of Erie County. Mr. Curran was elected to the Erie County Bar Foundation Board of Directors. Mr. Curran is Chief Trial Counsel for a major hospital system in Western New York, Co-lead Counsel for one of the leading nursing home services in New York State and Trial Counsel for various other nursing home operations.

Mr. Curran received his B.A. degree, cum laude, from the State University of New York at Albany in 1977, and then went on to earn his J.D. degree from New York Law School in 1980. Prior to joining Damon Morey, Mr. Curran was employed by the New York State Department of Health and served as chief legislative assistant to a member of the New York State Assembly.

Mr. Curran and his wife, Cyndy, have three children and reside in Williamsville, New York. His wife is an emeritus professor with the University at Buffalo School of Nursing.
