Mr. Heller is a Senior Partner at Damon Morey LLP, practicing in the firm's Business Litigation and Insolvency Department. In his more than 30 years of commercial law experience, he has assisted institutional, business and individual clients in commercial collections, loan workouts, mortgage foreclosures, UCC Article 9 transactions, landlord and tenant disputes, litigation involving real property and representation of secured and unsecured creditors in bankruptcy cases.
Following law school, Mr. Heller served for four and one-half years as an assistant district attorney for Erie County, New York, and as an assistant corporation counsel for the City of Buffalo.
Mr. Heller is a member of the Erie County and New York State Bar Associations. He is a frequent lecturer for the New York State Bar Association, most recently at its November 2008 seminar on “Mortgage Foreclosures and Workouts” and and its June 2009 seminar on “Dealing with Residential Foreclosures: Defenses, Remedies and other Approaches to Resolution.” He has authored course materials for that organization in the areas of “Bankruptcy Proceedings as They Affect Mortgage Foreclosures” and “Defenses to Acceleration and Lender Liability Concerns.” He has also lectured for Lorman Education Services, the National Business Institute, and the Erie Institute of Law.
Mr. Heller was recently selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in
America® 2012 (Copyright 2011 by Woodward/White, Inc., of Aiken, S.C.). in the
fields of Bankruptcy and Creditor Debtor Rights/Insolvency and Reorganization
Law & Commercial Litigation. He also received this recognition in both 2010 and
