After more than 40 years of experience as a trial lawyer representing large national corporations and locally-owned companies and their families, Mr. Moot now is Of Counsel and works with the Estates Department. He concentrates his practice on Elder Law and Estate and Trust work, while also advising on major Federal Court civil litigation.
His background for his Estate and Trust and Elder Law practice includes representing three generations of the owners and managers of local companies on personal, estate and tax matters, as well as their companies’ litigation. A wide range of civic, charitable and church activities also supports this area of his work. He has attended and participated in numerous Estate and Trust and Elder Law seminars conducted by the American, New York State, and Erie County Bar Associations. He is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and of the American, New York State and Erie County Bar Associations’ Elder Law Committees.
In addition to Mr. Moot’s professional affiliations, he is engaged in many civic and community affairs. He is a member of the Mayor’s Council, and a member of the advisory committee for the Dean of the University of Buffalo’s School of Social Work. His is also a trustee and treasurer of the Western New York Foundation, director and past President of the Buffalo Better Business Bureau, and a director of the Buffalo Urban League and member of the advisory board of the Buffalo Federation of Neighborhood Centers.
As an elder law attorney, he assists seniors, and particularly those living at home, in the day-to-day problems which they may face. He also furnishes help and advice on the options available under the various laws designed to assist seniors living at home or in choosing assisted living or continuous care facilities.
