Biography

Mr. von Simson is Special Counsel in the Business Litigation and Insolvency Defense department at Damon Morey. He specializes in trademark, patent, false advertising and copyright litigation and has broad experience in commercial litigation in state and federal courts. Mr. von Simson also has extensive experience in negotiating licenses and business development deals on behalf of intellectual property portfolio owners.

Prior to joining Damon Morey, Mr. von Simson was a principal of von Simson & Chin LLP in New York and Buffalo. He was also an attorney at White & Case LLP and Reed Smith LLP in New York. Mr. von Simson began his legal career as a law clerk to United States District Judge John T. Curtin in Buffalo.

Mr. von Simson received his J.D. cum laude from Brooklyn Law School, where he served as Editor in Chief of the Brooklyn Journal of International Law. Mr. von Simson is a member of the Erie County Bar Association and the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, where he served on the Information Technology Law Committee. He is admitted to practice in New York, in the United States District Courts for the Southern, Eastern and Western Districts of New York and in the Second, Fourth and Seventh Circuits of the United States Courts of Appeals.

Prior to starting his legal career, Mr. von Simson was a management consultant and journalist in the computer industry. He was an information technology strategic planning consultant at the Research Board in New York City and covered the personal computer software industry for Computerworld in San Francisco.

Charlie is a member of the Board of Advisors of the Humanities Institute of the State University of New York at Buffalo. He lives in Buffalo with his wife and two daughters.
