05/01/06 Damon & Morey Attorney Barbara Schifeling Receives “Leaders In Law” Award

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Damon & Morey is pleased to announce that Barbara L. Schifeling was the recipient of The Daily Record’s “Leaders in Law” Award in a ceremony that recognized five individuals in the Eighth Judicial District for their outstanding achievement in their practice areas, involvement in the profession, and support of the legal community and mentoring.

A Senior Partner in the firm’s Litigation Department, Ms. Schifeling focuses her practice in the areas of medical malpractice defense and environmental coverage litigation. She serves as a member of the Management and Client Development Committees; she is also the co-chair of the firm’s Health Care Practice Group. Ms. Schifeling is a member and an officer of the Board of Directors of the YWCA. Her professional memberships include the Western New York Trial Lawyers Association, the Bar Association of Erie County and the New York State Bar Association. She is past president and a current member of the Western New York Chapter of the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York. In 2005, Ms. Schifeling was named as one of Business First of Buffalo's “Women Who Mean Business” Award winners. She received her B.A. from The Lindenwood Colleges, her M.A.T. from the University of Chicago, and her J.D. from the State University of New York at Buffalo Law School.

05/10/06  Damon & Morey Chairman Christopher Greene Receives UB Law Distinguished Alumni Award

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Damon &  Morey is pleased to announce that Christopher T. Greene, the firm’s Chairman, recently received the University at Buffalo Law Alumni Association’s Distinguished Alumni Award.  He was honored for his outstanding community service at the organization’s 44th annual dinner.

 

A Senior Partner in the firm’s Business & Corporate Department, Mr. Greene works primarily with closely-held businesses and not-for-profit corporations. His practice focuses on health care corporate and regulatory matters, corporate and partnership formations, business start-ups, mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, debt and equity financing, and franchising. Formerly the Chair of the Hauptman-Woodward Medical Research Institute, Mr. Greene currently serves as the Chairman of the Hauptman-Woodward Foundation. He is a Board Member for the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, the Buffalo State College Foundation and the National Conference for Community Justice - Western New York Region.

 

Mr. Greene is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association, the New York Association of Homes & Services for the Aging, the New York State Health Care Facilities Organization, the American Medical Group Association’s Council of Attorneys and the Western New York Healthcare Association. He is currently listed as one of The Best Lawyers in America© for Health Care Law by Woodward White. He was named to Business First of Buffalo's “Who's Who in Law” List in 2004 and 2005. 05/30/06  Damon & Morey Names Five New Associates

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Damon & Morey LLP is pleased to announce that Christian M. Brockway, Thomas L. Kennedy, Molly L. Mallia, and Jennifer S. Burke have joined the firm.

Christian M. Brockway is an Associate in the firm’s Corporate Department.

Ms. Brockway received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Georgetown University in 2002. She received her Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from the State University of New York at Buffalo Law School in 2005. While in law school, she also completed the Academic Concentration in Finance Transactions.

 

 

Thomas L. Kennedy is an Associate in the firm’s Business Litigation and Insolvency Department.

Mr. Kennedy received an A.B. degree from Cornell University in 1984. He received his Juris Doctor degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo Law School in 2005.

Prior to joining Damon & Morey, Mr. Kennedy worked in the banking industry where he managed problem commercial loans. Previously, he served in the United States Navy.

Molly L. Mallia is an Associate in the firm’s Labor and Employment Department.

Ms. Mallia received her Bachelor of Arts degree in both English and Spanish, magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, from the State University of New York at Binghamton in 2002. She received her Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from the State University of New York at Buffalo Law School in 2005.

Jennifer S. Burke is an Associate in the firm’s Real Estate Department.

Ms. Burke received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Fairfield University in 1995. She received her Juris Doctor degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo Law School in 1998.

Ms. Burke’s previous legal experience includes working as an Associate at Block & Colucci, P.C., where she conducted real estate and mortgage closings and represented purchasers and sellers in residential real estate transactions. Previously, Ms. Burke was a Judicial Intern for the Chief Judge of Family Court in Buffalo, New York in 1997.
